What is Crime Stoppers?

Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization in which citizens in the community, the media, businesses and law enforcement agencies work together to solve crimes.  Citizens are encouraged through cash rewards and assurance of anonymity to provide information that can lead to the arrest of criminals.  The Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers program was organized on November 1, 1982, by the Goldsboro Area Chamber of Commerce with the cooperation of the Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Seymour Johnson AFB law enforcement.
Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization, funded solely by private donations.  To make a donation, contact the Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers Director Stephanie Brown at 919-734-8177.

Who is Involved?

Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is made up of volunteers in the Goldsboro-Wayne County area who are willing to fight against crime.  The premise is that citizens want the community to be a safe one and that they are willing to work to make it that way.  

  • An 18-member board of directors meets monthly to discuss and approve reward payments and to set the policies of the organization.  
  • A full-time Law Enforcement Coordinator position is filled by a sworn officer of the Goldsboro Police Department.  His/her primary responsibilities are to receive and process tips from tipsters and to recommend reward amounts to the board.  
  • A part-time Executive Director is employed by Crime Stoppers to administer the board’s policies and fundraising efforts.

Callers call or text Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or submit a TIP at tipsubmit.com.  Callers will remain anonymous and if your information leads to a felony arrest you will be given a cash reward for the information.  Crime Stoppers gives cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to felony arrests.
