What is Crime Stoppers?
Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization in whichcitizens in the community, the media, businesses and law enforcement agencieswork together to solve crimes. Citizens are encouraged through cash rewardsand assurance of anonymity to provide information that can lead to the arrest ofcriminals. The Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers program was organized onNovember 1, 1982, by the Goldsboro Area Chamber of Commerce with thecooperation of the Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Officeand Seymour Johnson AFB law enforcement.
Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization, fundedsolely by private donations. To make a donation, contact the Goldsboro-WayneCrime Stoppers Director Stephanie Brown at 919-734-8177.
Who is Involved?
Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers is made up of volunteers in the Goldsboro-Wayne County area who are willing to fight against crime. The premise is thatcitizens want the community to be a safe one and that they are willing to workto make it that way.
An 18-member board of directors meets monthly to discuss and approvereward payments and to set the policies of the organization.
A full-time Law Enforcement Coordinator position is filled by a sworn officer ofthe Goldsboro Police Department. His/her primary responsibilities are toreceive and process tips from tipsters and to recommend reward amounts tothe board.
A part-time Executive Director is employed by Crime Stoppers to administerthe board’s policies and fundraising efforts.
